During intensified inspections carried out in September across the Republic to prevent environmental violations, the employees of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body recorded several cases of illegal timber transportation and air pollution.
In particular: On the Yerevan–Sevan highway in Kotayk region, citizens A.A. and D.O. attempted to transport a total of 15 cubic meters of cut timber using ZIL trucks without the required documents.
On the same highway, in the sections near Charentsavan, Hrazdan, and Solak, citizens S.M., N.O., and K.A. were found transporting a total of 18.6 cubic meters of firewood in Gazel and ZIL trucks without any documents confirming the legality of the wood.
All trucks carrying illegal timber were transferred to special protected areas under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Police. Reports on all cases have been submitted to law enforcement authorities.
In addition, in the regions of Armavir, Lori, Shirak, and Kotayk, nine truck drivers polluted the air by transporting bulk materials without impermeable covers.
For violating atmospheric air protection regulations, the drivers were subjected to administrative fines of 50,000 AMD each.
