Mr. Hovhannes Martirosyan, Head of the Environment Protection and Mining Inspection Body, paid a working visit to Ararat region.
As part of the visit, he toured the newly constructed Vedi Reservoir to assess water resource use and management efficiency. On site, Mr. Martirosyan observed the reservoir’s current filling level, as well as ongoing water conservation and distribution processes at the intake point.
He expressed hope that the reservoir—equipped with modern, locally adapted technologies that meet international standards—will contribute to the development of agriculture and biodiversity, improve living standards, and support climate change mitigation.
Within the framework of his regional trip, the Head of EPMIB also visited the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) Wildlife Rescue Center in Urtsadzor. There, he examined the care and housing conditions of rescued wild animals previously kept in captivity.
Ahead of the upcoming COP17 conference in Armenia, Mr. Martirosyan emphasized the importance of close cooperation with FPWC to address the pressing issue of wild animals being kept without permits, which is actively discussed within the COP17 preparatory committee.
