
The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body has summarized oversight results in the field of biodiversity for the first half of 2025.
Inspection Activities
- A total of 4 inspections were conducted in 3 branches of the “Hayantar” State Non-Commercial Organization.
Violations and Environmental Damage
- 703 violations were recorded.
- 5,466 trees were found to be illegally felled.
- 3,040.7 cubic meters of illegal timber were detected.
- 176 administrative penalties were imposed, totaling 17,890,000 AMD in fines.
- Environmental damage was calculated at 428,946,680 AMD.
Wildlife Protection Measures
During the reporting period, 14 cases were recorded involving violations of wildlife export and keeping regulations, as well as illegal hunting, affecting a total of 115 animals.
Confiscated wildlife included:
- 5 Red List brown bears, transferred to an animal shelter.
- 1 Red List bezoar goat, transferred to the Zoology and Hydroecology Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences.
- 1 macaque.
- 2 rabbits.
- 90 steppe larks.
- 13 rock pigeons.
- 1 little owl.
- 1 black stork.
- 1 kestrel.
Confiscated Items
- 7 hunting rifles.
- 22 rounds of ammunition.
- 20 boats.
- 248 fishing nets.
Criminal Proceedings
- 202 reports of alleged criminal offenses were submitted to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
