On June 17, as part of a series of regional meetings, Deputy Heads of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body — Mr. Vrezh Galoyan, Mr. Vagharshak Amirkhanyan, and Mr. Levon Levonyan — visited the communities of Areni, Yeghegnadzor, and Vayk in the Vayots Dzor region. They met with local residents, council members, and representatives of local self-government bodies.
The primary goal of the visit was to identify existing environmental challenges in the region, assess their impact on community life and natural resources, and jointly explore solutions most beneficial for local residents.
During community visits and meetings in various formats, discussions focused on: Road construction activities and their environmental impact, Reducing dust emissions during the transportation of bulk materials, Efficient management of water and land resources, Preventing cases of illegal hunting and fishing, Addressing the burning of landfills, Mitigating seasonal wildfires.
The leadership emphasized the creation of rapid response mechanisms to address problems through direct communication between the Inspection Body, local self-government bodies, council members, and residents.
Several issues raised by the communities were addressed and resolved on the spot.
