On May 14, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) received a report from the Tavush Regional Governor’s Office regarding fish deaths observed in the Hakhum (Paravakar) and Berkaber (Joghaz) reservoirs.
As part of the administrative proceedings initiated by the EPMIB, water samples were collected from the reservoirs, and batches of dead fish were sent to the “Republican Veterinary-Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services Center ” SNCO under the Food Safety Inspection Body.
Laboratory tests conducted by the EPMIB confirmed that no chemical pollution was detected in the reservoir waters.
According to microbiological and parasitological analyses carried out by the Food Safety Inspection Body, the cause of fish mortality was species-specific parasites and pathogens, which do not pose any danger to human life or health.
