Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body Submits Report to the Investigative Committee Regarding Tree Cutting in the Botanical Garden — Damage Exceeds 16.5 Million AMD

Following a report received concerning felled trees within the territory of the “A. Takhtajyan Institute of Botany” SNCO of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body initiated administrative proceedings.

During an inspection of the Institute’s territory, 34 illegally cut stumps of “Summer Oak” trees with diameters ranging from 35 to 74 cm were recorded.

The illegal logging caused damage to the flora amounting to 16,570,000 AMD. Based on the materials of the administrative proceedings, a report on an alleged crime has been submitted to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
