On December 5, in the territory of the “Chambarak Forestry” branch of the “Hayantar” SNCO in Gegharkunik Region, an animal collar equipped with a radio navigation transmitter was discovered in a pit, hidden under leaves, in a cut and partially melted condition.
Within the framework of administrative proceedings initiated by the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, it was established that the collar had been attached to the neck of a red deer released into the wild by the “Dilijan National Park” SNCO. However, the animal itself was not found in the area.
According to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Tariffs for Compensation of Damage Caused to Fauna and Flora as a Result of Environmental Violations,” the amount of compensation for damage caused to wildlife in the event of the hunting or destruction of a red deer amounts to AMD 3,000,000.
A report on the apparent criminal offense has been submitted to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, on the basis of which criminal proceedings have been initiated.
