In 2025, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) recorded 998 cases related to the burning of waste, leaves, stubble, vegetation residues, and landfills as part of its air protection oversight activities:
Distribution of cases by region
As a result of 74 administrative proceedings, administrative penalties were applied to citizens. The total amount of fines imposed reached 750,000 AMD. In addition, three criminal cases were initiated.
39 official recommendations were submitted to regional governors regarding landfill monitoring and the implementation of fire-prevention measures within the scope of their respective authorities.
Throughout 2025, awareness-raising meetings were held in all consolidated communities with the participation of governors, community heads, municipal councils, and residents. These meetings focused on fire prevention, fire-hazard situations, compliance with the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Air Protection,” and the administrative penalties stipulated by the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia.
Reminder
Burning stubble, vegetation residues, dry vegetation, or pasture and hayfield cover on agricultural lands, forest-adjacent areas, forest lands, and specially protected natural territories is punishable under the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia and results in fines ranging from 50,000 AMD to 300,000 AMD.
