On October 30, 2025, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body received a report from the Eco-Patrol Service of the Ministry of Environment regarding a bear cub trapped in a fence near the village of Hermon, Vayots Dzor region.
The Inspection Body’s staff visited the scene, where they found a bear cub—approximately two years old—caught in a metal homemade wire snare. During the inspection of the area, three additional metal snares were discovered and confiscated.
To treat the cub’s injuries and later reintroduce it into the wild, the animal was transferred to the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) in Urtsadzor.
A report on the apparent crime has been submitted to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
