With the opening of the amateur hunting season, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia (EPMIB) has intensified inspection activities in the country's hunting grounds, resulting in the detection of two violations of the established hunting rules in Vayots Dzor Province.
On 29 August 2026, in the administrative territory of Khndzorut settlement of Vayk community, six quails hunted by H.S. in excess of the permitted quota were discovered.
On 30 August 2026, during an inspection of a Jeep vehicle driven by H.K. on the Yerevan–Meghri highway at km 108, in the Areni–Yeghegnadzor section, one bird resembling a collared dove, hunted in excess of the permitted quota, was found in the vehicle's trunk.
The illegally hunted birds, as well as two hunting firearms used as tools for illegal hunting — one 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun and one 16-gauge single-barrel shotgun — were seized.
Administrative proceedings have been initiated, and appropriate liability measures will be applied within their framework.
The EPMIB will also file respective claims with the Court seeking the confiscation of the hunting firearms used as tools for illegal hunting.
