The Head of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB), Hovhannes Martirosyan, met with Ruben Khachatryan, Director of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC).
The meeting focused on the Foundation’s programme “Restoration of River Ecosystems and Forests in the Volcanic Landscape of Vayots Dzor,” with particular attention to measures aimed at restoring the ecosystem of the Yeghegis River and the terms of reference for the planned hydrological works.
EPMIB Head Hovhannes Martirosyan proposed establishing a working group involving relevant stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of the activities planned under the programme.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the identification of registered wild animals that remain in captivity, as well as wild animals kept without the relevant permits, including their relocation, care, and improvement of their keeping conditions.
The parties reaffirmed the importance of such cooperation ahead of COP17 in coordinating joint efforts for the conservation of nature and biodiversity.
