Based on media reports concerning accumulated waste in the area surrounding Kari Lake, located on the slopes of Mount Aragats, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) initiated administrative proceedings on 15 August.
As part of the proceedings, at the initiative of the EPMIB, discussions were held with the “Ashtarak Waste Collection and Sanitation” municipal institution regarding the organization of waste collection in the area. As a result, the municipality carried out sanitation and cleaning works in the area.
Considering Kari Lake’s importance as a popular tourist destination and frequently visited area, the Inspection Body recommended that the municipality install an adequate number of waste bins and regularly organize waste collection and sanitation works to ensure proper sanitary conditions and prevent the accumulation of waste.
The area surrounding Kari Lake has now been cleaned and is in proper sanitary condition.
